JOSE MARIA BUSTOS

Jose Maria Bustos is a contemporary American artist, hailing from New York City. His unique style is influenced by his colorful life, living in Europe and the Middle East, traveling to Central and South America and Mexico, and his upbringing in New York City.

His works are conceptually concerned with the human experience, exploring all realms of humanity, from the socio-political and religious to the personal. These themes are explored through Bustos’ large-scale paintings, which feature the creative use of color, texture, and line.

He has a BFA and MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute, is a Rockefeller Fellow in Museum Studies and Education, and a recipient of the U.S.A. National Endowment for the Arts Grant, Illinois Arts Grant.

His worldwide representation has included San Francisco, Chicago, Minneapolis, and Singapore, where he has lived for the last twenty-seven years.
