CATHY LAMAZZA

Cathy Lamazza works with watercolor, paper, and ink, embracing the intimacy these mediums provide with her subject matter.

Her use of color is both soft and brilliant, capturing a transparency unique to watercolor—an effect not found in other mediums. Once the brush meets the paper, there is no concealing the mark; each stroke is an immediate and honest expression, laid bare for all to see. This process can be deeply therapeutic, allowing thoughts and emotions to be translated directly onto paper in the moment..

Through fluid brushstrokes, her work takes on organic and abstract forms, drawing inspiration from both nature and architecture. Often described as illuminating, ethereal, and calming, her paintings invite viewers into a space of quiet reflection and emotional resonance.

“The best way to describe Caterina’s work is bridging the inner world with intellectual forms.”

Caterina Michela La Mazza was born in Messina, Italy.  At an early age she knew that drawing and painting would be her passion.  Attending Moore College of Art in Philadelphia she earned a Fine Arts degree in Fiber Arts.  She has worked as a design director in the textile fashion industry in NY and LA.  Recently she has studied interior architecture at UCLA.  Caterina freelances and lives in Los Angeles where she creates her water colors. Caterina expresses her love of harmony and beauty through color and abstracted shapes.  She utilizes this balance of precision and delicacy called “The Music of the Spheres” by Pythagoras.
