KRIEGER | ELEY ART - Art Consultants
ART ON THE AVE, NYC
Three Curatorial and Installation Commissions for Art on the Ave NYC (2021–2022)
West Village · East Midtown · Upper West Side
Krieger | Eley Art was honored to collaborate with Art on the Ave NYC (AOA)—an innovative public art initiative founded by Barbara Anderson and Jackie Graham. AOA reimagines vacant storefronts as platforms for community engagement, spotlighting local unrepresented artists and connecting creativity with the urban landscape.
Each of the three AOA exhibitions commissioned from Krieger | Eley Art presented a unique curatorial vision reflecting the character of its respective neighborhood. The submission-based artist selection process yielded over 20 artists per exhibition and per location. Through thoughtful curation and site-specific installation, more than 20 artists per exhibition transformed 10–14 mini-galleries into dynamic exhibitions of contemporary expression, featuring distinctively different themes, artists, and neighborhoods.
Accompanied by guided gallery walks, these installations captured the evolving story of art, place, and community across New York City.

Collecting African American Art: A Panel
On February 23, 2022, the East Midtown Partnership and Art on the Ave hosted a panel discussion on "Collecting African American Art" as part of our public art exhibition, "Intersections," and in recognition of Black History Month. Joining us were Peg Alston, a private art dealer who is considered one of the country's foremost specialists on art by African Americans and artists of African descent, and Dr. Halima Taha, an author, scholar, curator, and art advisor who is recognized throughout the United States as a leading authority on collecting African American art and arts management.
ART ON THE AVE TESTIMONIAL
"Working with Norma and Susan has been an incredible experience for Art on the Ave. Norma and Susan brought thoughtful professionalism to every stage of the curatorial process, with a deep understanding of our mission and a genuine willingness to collaborate.
They took the time to review artist statements carefully and thoughtfully considered not only the exhibitions' look but also their underlying stories and themes, ensuring each show felt cohesive and meaningful.
Beyond their curatorial insights, they engaged with our artists, participated in walks and talks, and helped us foster a genuine sense of community when our organization was finding its footing.
Their expertise, care, and collaborative spirit made a lasting impact, and we are so grateful for their partnership."
